THE FRANCIS BACON COLLECTION – Bookshop
This volume gathers over 700 drawings, pastels, and collages held by the Francis Bacon Collection.
The high-resolution images—the result of an exclusive photographic campaign by Scripta Maneant—allow for an immersive exploration of every detail of Bacon’s works, highlighting his explosive creativity and his singular, unique figurative language.
Authoritative voices guide the reader through the discovery of the most precious and previously unpublished heritage of Bacon’s art on paper currently held in Italy.
Dino Cura: The President of The Francis Bacon Collection welcomes the reader with an opening greeting, introducing this vast collection of unpublished works on paper.
Edward Lucie-Smith: The renowned art critic and historian explores Bacon’s artistic production in the introductory essay, dismantling the common misconception that Bacon was “not a draughtsman.”
Fernando Castro Flórez: The art critic curates the seven thematic sections into which the 700+ works are divided. His introductory texts navigate the reader through Bacon’s figurative lexicon and the cultural and personal coordinates that inspired his subjects.
Ambra Draghetti & Umberto Guerini: Draghetti (a forensic graphologist) and Guerini (the lawyer who oversaw the collection’s authentication process) provide insights into Bacon’s graphological stroke and the history behind the drawings, respectively.
Professor Maurizio Seracini: A pioneer in multispectral imaging diagnostics, Seracini applied his technology to the collection’s drawings, revealing new attributional details for the first time in a book.
A Definitive Resource: All works, photographed by Scripta Maneant, provide scholars and enthusiasts with documentation of the highest quality—uniform and faithful to the colors and every minute detail of the original pieces.
