Leonardo da Vinci: ATLAS ANATOMICUS The Royal Collection Windsor – Bookshop Edition

This book presents the complete corpus of the artist’s anatomical drawings preserved in the Royal Collection at Windsor, the world’s richest collection of works on paper by the great genius.

The over 300 images gathered here offer a deep and comprehensive look into an essential aspect of the Great Master’s history, highlighting him as a precursor to avant-garde Renaissance scientific research.

Moving between Art and Anatomy, the volume surprises and redefines the way we look at and “feel” Leonardo’s work. Through an innovative exhibition approach, Professor Martin Kemp reveals the unique qualities of Leonardo’s line work and the refined figurative transposition of his anatomical studies, which also take shape as a philosophical treatise.

The volume is further enriched by the insights of Professor Mario Rende, an anatomist from the University of Perugia, who reveals the scientific intuitions, research methodology, and experimental and analytical approach of the Genius of Vinci.
