Artemisia – Bookshop Edition

The complete works of art of the first female artist who gained recognition in the history of Western Art.

Uncovered masterpieces, unpublished works and exclusive images from the Scripta Maneant Photographic Campaign.

Iconic and exemplary works of art coming from private collections or debated pictorial attribution give life to a complete updated volume dedicated to the painter.

Artemisia Gentileschi: the artistic practice and the intellectual, literary, scientific and musical frequentations in Rome, Florence, Venice, London and Naples.

The novel approach to this female painter is centered around the artistic experience, often overlooked by her biographic narrative. New themes are highlighted thanks to the history of some of the most important and lesser-known international commissions.

Artemisia sets the scene through her own words, as a volatile woman, astute and prepared entrepreneur of her endeavours. This is highlighted thanks to the appendix with a selection of commented letters of the artist addressed to the friend Galileo Galilei and her main patrons.
