Medal created and coined exclusively for Scripta Maneant, in a limited and certified series of 298 pieces

“A man may die but not an idea”

THE PROJECT

A medal to remind us from where we come from and especially who we are!

“A man may die but not an idea” were the last words pronounced by the young patriot Goffredo Mameli wounded in battle at the time of death; the medal dedicated to the “Song of the Italians”, our national anthem written and composed in 1847, celebrates the  spirit of the pride which has characterized our country for centuries for its ingenious in the Arts, Culture and in the Art of Professions, in Solidarity and Sharing.

THE MEDALS

Front:

Graphic design of the bust dedicated to Goffredo Mameli created by Attilio Temperoni in1926 as a substitution of a first exemplar thought to be far from the profile of the Italian patriot. The bust may be found in the ‘Passeggiata del Gianicolo’ in Rome. The date, 15th of November 2017,
can be identified with the approval of the deliberation in Commission of Constitutional Affairs of the Senate that made the Anthem of Mameli, finally, the national anthem “de iure” of the Italian Republic.

Rear:

Printed reproduction with laser technology of the lyrics to the Mameli anthem from the original autographed version, on a backdrop of the outline of the map of the Italian territory; five verses and a refrain are alternated and were composed in September 1847 and subsequently recomposed by Michele Novaro.
