The Psalter
Psalter is a sacred book containing the texts of the Psalms and other writings of prayer and wisdom. The De Lisle (from the name of the owner of the volume - an English nobleman lived between 13th and 14th centuries who stripped of his property once he became a Franciscan) is a volume with a liturgic calendar and an extraordinary series of 24 miniatures, most of them made in full page, in gold and fined colours. Among the subjects: a big Madonna enthroned with Child, a Crucifixion, a long iconographic cycle on the life of Christ, and a rare series of detailed theological and moral diagrams, including the Tree of Life by San Bonaventura.
