A Tribute to a Surprising Art
You will be astonished by taking the first steps inside the Sacrario delle Bandiere at the Vittoriano. The relics particularities and the original artistic heritage of the flag-bearer chests instil the immediate awareness that the exhibition will be deeply exciting. By approaching to the objects you can observe the details, the laborious inlays on wood, the metallic ornaments, and the dedications of those who offered, with deep gratitude, a gift to the ships and men, which have played an extraordinary role for the Homeland and for the Italians. Flags and banners that are sometimes battered like the dress of someone who has successfully passed hard ordeals, and flag-bearer chests that in their inlays betray the emotion of loving and gratitude feelings belonging to the whole of Italy. For the first time a volume homages this extraordinary and spectacular heritage that testifies the valuable bond between Italians and Navy with its glorious and generous tradition.

Treasures Finally Celebrated
All the objects proposed in the volume - flag-bearer chests and banners - are kept in the Sacrario delle Bandiere at the Vittoriano in Rome. The only four exceptions are the chests today exposed at Palazzo Marina. This photographic report discloses to those ones who have not yet visited these suggestive places a part of the magic of relics here preserved. The enchantment is very often present in the details so the photos often explore hidden and less visible points, also portraying, when possible, the imposing flags folded and laid on these magnificent chests.
